Hot take: the machines didn't kill thinking. We killed thinking. The machines just showed you could get by without it. You can make art without believing in art. Make opinions without believing anything. Live a whole life without believing it matters. And guess what? That's what most people were already doing. Going through the motions. The machines just did the motions for them.

I hate that you're right. I spent ten years at a job I didn't believe in, doing work I didn't care about, and then got mad when a machine could do it just as carelessly as I did. Maybe the machine wasn't the wake-up call. Maybe it was the mirror.
